چکیده

This research was carried out to investigate the types of figurative language found in reading texts at grade X students’ book, dominant type and find difficulties understanding language. The design qualitative which content analysis conducted. source data high school English textbook Padangsidimpuan. instrument collect checklist, test interview. Some students were interviewed by researcher know their responses on use analyzed based three theories proposed Keraf. findings this are: there are 6 text book. They personification, hyperbole, metonymy, euphemism, antithesis, repetition, personification; lacking linguistic knowledge that is semantic meaning socio-cultural phrases sentences.
